Abdominal Therapy
A gentle return to yourself.
Compassionate, trauma-informed bodywork supporting abdominal and pelvic wellness, nervous system regulation, and a deeper connection to your body.
What Can Abdominal Therapy Support?
Our bodies carry so much—stress, tension, life experiences, and the physical demands of everyday living. Abdominal Therapy offers a gentle, nurturing approach to reconnecting with an area of the body that is often overlooked.
Through intentional, hands-on techniques focused on the abdomen, pelvis, low back, and sacrum, this work encourages relaxation, body awareness, and greater comfort while honoring your body's individual needs.
Abdominal Therapy may offer supportive care for:
Menstrual & Pelvic Wellness: Supporting relaxation and comfort for those navigating menstrual discomfort, pelvic tension, and changes throughout their reproductive years.
Endometriosis & Chronic Pelvic Discomfort: Offering gentle, complementary bodywork focused on relaxation, body awareness, and easing muscular tension alongside appropriate medical care.
Digestive Wellness: Encouraging relaxation and abdominal comfort for those experiencing occasional bloating, constipation, or digestive tension.
Scar Tissue & Post-Surgical Awareness: Gently addressing surrounding soft-tissue tension and supporting reconnection with areas affected by previous surgeries, once medically cleared.
Fertility & Reproductive Wellness: Providing nurturing, stress-reducing care for individuals navigating their fertility journey, without claiming to improve fertility or conception outcomes.
Nervous System Regulation: Creating space to slow down, settle into your body, and support the relaxation response through gentle, intentional touch.
Stress & Emotional Well-Being: Offering a compassionate environment to reconnect with your body at your own pace.
A Gentle, Individualized Approach
At Wild Moon, Abdominal Therapy is never about forcing change or pushing through discomfort. Your comfort, boundaries, and sense of safety guide every session.
Our approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, collaboration, and the belief that you deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your wellness journey.
Each initial session also includes education in self-care techniques, giving you gentle tools to continue nurturing yourself between appointments.
Abdominal Therapy may be a meaningful addition to your wellness journey if you:
Experience painful periods, menstrual discomfort, or pelvic tension.
Are navigating endometriosis, adenomyosis, or chronic pelvic discomfort and are seeking complementary support.
Experience occasional bloating, constipation, or abdominal tension.
Have undergone abdominal or pelvic surgery and want to gently reconnect with the area after healing and medical clearance.
Are navigating fertility challenges or changes in your reproductive health and would benefit from supportive, stress-reducing care.
Carry stress or tension through your abdomen, hips, or lower back.
Feel disconnected from your body following physical or emotionally difficult experiences.
Are moving through hormonal transitions, including perimenopause and menopause.
Simply want to nurture your body through intentional touch, relaxation, and compassionate care.
You Don't Need a Diagnosis to Deserve Care
You don't need to be experiencing pain or navigating a medical condition to benefit from slowing down and reconnecting with yourself.
At Wild Moon, we recognize that every person's relationship with their body is unique. Our approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and guided by your comfort, boundaries, and individual needs.
There is no expectation to push through discomfort, share more than you're ready to, or experience your body in any particular way.
Just a welcoming space to be heard, supported, and cared for—exactly where you are.
Abdominal Therapy is a complementary wellness practice and does not replace medical evaluation or treatment. Some conditions, recent surgeries, or pregnancy may require modifications, medical clearance, or postponement of treatment.
Who Is Abdominal Therapy For?
Abdominal Therapy is for anyone seeking a deeper connection with their body, greater comfort, and a gentle, supportive approach to their well-being.
Whether you're navigating a specific health concern, moving through a season of change, or simply longing to feel more at home in your body, this work offers a nurturing space to slow down, reconnect, and be cared for.
The Roots of Abdominal Therapy
Abdominal Therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of therapeutic bodywork rooted in traditional Maya healing practices and the teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo, founder of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy.
Sometimes referred to as Mayan Abdominal Massage, Maya Abdominal Therapy, or Arvigo Therapy, this work draws upon generations of traditional healing knowledge alongside modern anatomical understanding.
Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed her approach through years of study and apprenticeship with traditional Maya healer Don Elijio Panti and herbal midwife Miss Hortence Robinson in Belize. Their teachings helped shape an approach to abdominal and pelvic wellness that continues to be shared through the Abdominal Therapy Collective (ATC).
At Wild Moon Wellness + Esthetics, Heather is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Abdominal Therapy Practitioner trained through the Abdominal Therapy Collective.
Her approach honors the roots of this work while emphasizing compassionate, trauma-informed care, nervous system regulation, and the importance of helping each client feel safe, supported, and connected to their body.
